Welcome to the New Another Subcontinent Features Site

The Another Subcontinent Features site has been on hiatus since the summer. We return now in a new format and with a slightly different look. Our features site was launched in December 2004, and our initial features ran for a few weeks at a time. We moved very quickly to a monthly format which remained in place till the summer of 2008. The new features site moves to a magazine format, and will present multiple features in each issue. New issues will come online every 3-4 months (there will be a more regularly updating connecting thread between the issues, but more on this a little later) and features will be archived both by issue and category.

The new format allows us to present featured work for longer periods of time. It also allows us to include in each issue work that might not have been substantial (in terms of size) to carry a single feature in the original format. This is particularly relevant for poetry submissions, which we have had difficulty incorporating in the past. We will now be able to accept single poem submissions, as well shorter stories and photography features. Please see the updated submissions page for more information.

We are also switching to a slightly wider page layout optimized to a 1024x768 monitor resolution. Depending on member feedback we may continue to offer a 800x600 alternative as well.

Now for that connecting thread: We are in equal measures thrilled and proud to announce that Manjula Padmanabhan's beloved comic Suki is being revived on Another Subcontinent, starting with this issue! All-new strips of Suki will be updated much more frequently between issues and, who knows? may even comment on them. So while you should only expect a new issue every 3-4 months, you should check every few weeks for the latest from Suki, Frog and company.

As always, you will be able to discuss the contents of the Winter 2008 issue with the featured translators, writers and artists, and also with Another SUbcontinent forum members. Discussion links are presented below and also on all the feature pages.
